Research Outline

Advances in synthetic biology have made it possible not only to externally control the behavior of biomolecules but also to endow cells with functions that do not exist in nat

My research focuses on developing biosensors and synthetic gene switches to detect molecular conditions in mammalian cells, as well as constructing gene circuits that enable computer-like precision in controlling cellular functions and fates. These studies have laid the foundation for large-scale “cellular computing.”

Within PRIMe, my studies aim to establish a comprehensive cellular event recording system by integrating molecular detection technologies with DNA event recorders.

In addition, to achieve more sophisticated cellular computing that enables cells to exhibit desired functions in response to specific environments, new biosensors, large-scale genetic circuits, and biomolecular information recording systems will be developed, advancing research toward future gene and cell therapy technologies.
